Supervision and Ethics in the Helping Profession Joellen Woodring, MS, LPCC-S This session will be an overview of supervision and ethics for beginning, intermediate and advanced supervisors. We will review the supervisor’s role in the treatment process, appropriate documentation, assessment and evaluation of supervisees. This session will focus on effective supervision practices and will include practical application of principles including group discussion and the use of supervision video to aid participants understanding of effective and ineffective supervision. Important ethical principles including boundaries, confidentiality and scope of practice will be reviewed and discussed by the group to aid in clear understanding. Videos of mock client sessions will be used to highlight ethical dilemmas and provide attendee experience in using ethical decision making.
