Rounding out this cross-country road trip are bold, evocative works by American mavericks Carl Ruggles and George Crumb, and Barber’s nostalgic Knoxville: Summer of 1915, based on a poem by James Agee and featuring award-winning Swedish soprano Johanna Wallroth.
